My Cell Phone is Back

When i went to the Sprint center last Friday night, I accidentally dropped my cell phone on the floor where I was sitting.  In a hurry to leave, I forgot to check and the result was it was left there in Kansas City.  The head of security has the lock up for the lost and found in his desk and when he is out of the office, nothing gets returned.  Yep, he was on a plane to Las Angeles bright and early Sunday and not back until Thursday.  I finally got my phone back and while I probably should just have replaced it, I wonder about the whole cell phone phenomena.

About three years ago, I spent a couple of hundred dollars to purchase an I-Phone.  With the data plan and the unlimited minutes, it cost about a hundred dollars a month.  Somewhere in the middle of all that, they offered a more limited data plan that allowed me to ut the cost down by thirty dollars or so.  On Christmas about a year ago we went to a game at KU and somehow the phone got dropped out of the car and someone ran over it.  It was smashed beyond repair and there was no insurance to replace it.  I felt I needed a replacement and went to Wally World to find a Trac Phone as a temporary replacement.  It cost about $40.00 and with a year's minutes the total cost has been about a hundred dollars.   For less than the first month's cost on the I-Phone, I have had a phone for almost a year.  Why are we willing to spend so much on a communication device?

I did love the ability that my phone had of simply recording music but there is a little pocket radio that will do that a lot cheaper.  Besides, the I-Phone didn't carry talk radio.  There is also an I-Pod that will do a lot of what my old cell phone would do and i can communicate with the cheap cell phone.  

No, I really don't miss having all the information my I-Phone had in it.  I did for a short while but find that putting my day runner in the car almost as good when we travel.  It is a hell of a lot cheaper!

Oh well, I'm sure that I have spent more time writing on this matter than the entire subject is worth.
