I am scheduled to get a load of gravel at Dave's about 10:30 today, lord willing and if it doesn't rain.
I'm not sure if she thought I needed to get a load on or if I was full of it. Barb thought the driveway guy was a little too expensive so I get to do it by hand. Oh well,

Never try to shovel 8 or more tons of graved. The effort is not worth the health risks. (Muscle strains, dislocations, not to mention heart attack) This is money well spent for the spreader guy. Ray
ReplyDeleteI agree w/Ray. Can you rent a dump trailer to go get it yourself then dump it hydraulically? Here the gravel isn't too expensive it's the delivery in the dump truck. It might even be cost effective in the long haul to asphalt?
ReplyDeleteOh sure, Ray has the tractor I need not the one I got. Oh Well

Did you get lucky with the rain, sir?
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, I once shoveled eight yards of topsoil in four hours. Then I crawled in the tub and dorve one hundred miles to a funeral for one of my in-laws.
Great day for me.
I got the gravel spread and it sprinkled for about two hours. I probably had to shovel about 8 of the 27 yards to get it nearly level. I then put water in my roller and gave it a good level. So far no one has complained except my shoulders.
